Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team, at the Café at Ben's Yard. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee kitchen operations, supervise staff, and contribute to the creation of memorable dining experiences in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and presentation, while supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen management.
This role is primarily daytime hours, between 8am-5pm.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient service.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including chefs and kitchen assistants, fostering a positive team environment.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and are prepared in accordance with recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, demonstrating excellent culinary skills and creativity.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen activities.
- Manage stock levels, order supplies, and monitor inventory to minimise waste and control costs.
- Train new team members on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction.
- Assist in menu planning and development to keep offerings innovative and appealing.
Requirements
- Proven supervisory experience within a busy kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (HACCP certification is desirable).
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent team management skills.
- Strong understanding of food production processes and restaurant operations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
