We're recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established, family-owned manufacturer based in the Keighley area of West Yorkshire, for an Apprentice CNC Machine Setter/Operator. You'll work closely with the Production Manager and an experienced Machine Setter, learning to set up and operate CNC and bench machinery used to manufacture springs, wire forms and pressings.
What you'll be doing
● Assisting the Machine Setter with setting up CNC and bench machinery to meet customer specifications and delivery dates
● Learning to operate machinery safely and efficiently
● Assisting with the maintenance of machinery and equipment in line with company procedures
● Helping to troubleshoot minor machine faults under supervision
● Monitoring production output against works order instructions and quality standards
● Recording production data on works orders and quality control records
● Carrying out basic quality checks using measuring equipment, including verniers and 3D vision systems
● Following all health & safety procedures and company policies, and keeping your work area clean and organised

Training & progression
This role is trained on the job rather than through a college-based scheme by default, so you can start earning and working straight away. If you'd prefer a formal, college-based apprenticeship qualification, that route can also be discussed — just let us know when you apply.
Pay
As this isn't a formal apprenticeship by default, pay is based on the standard National Minimum/Living Wage for your age band, rather than the lower apprentice rate:
● Under 18: £8.00/hour (£15,392 per year)
● 18–20: £10.85/hour (£20,874 per year)
● 21 and over: £12.71/hour (£24,442 per year)
(Rates effective from April 2026, based on a 37-hour week.)
Hours
37 hours per week — Monday to Thursday, 7.30am–4.30pm or 8.00am–5.00pm (half hour unpaid lunch), and 8.00am–12.00pm on Fridays. An annualised hours scheme is in place, with hours banked as flexi time.
Pay: Up to £24,442.00 per year
