We are a growing IT and electronics recycling company looking for a practical, reliable individual to join our team as a Part-Time Audio/Visual Test & Repair Technician.
The role involves testing, diagnosing and repairing a wide range of audio visual equipment, helping to maximise the reuse of electronics and reduce waste. No two days are the same, and there will be opportunities to assist with other warehouse and technical tasks as required.
This role would particularly suit someone who is retired, semi-retired, or an electronics enthusiast looking for a flexible part-time opportunity. It would be ideal for someone who enjoys working with vintage and modern audio-visual equipment and wants to use their technical skills in a practical environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Test, inspect and assess a wide range of audio visual and consumer electronics, including vintage Hi-Fi systems, separates (amplifiers, tuners, cassette decks and CD players), reel-to-reel tape recorders, VHS/DVD combi units, Blu-ray and DVD players, speakers and other related equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs where economically viable, including soldering.
- Record test results and maintain accurate job records.
- Prepare working equipment for resale or reuse.
- Identify equipment suitable for parts harvesting or recycling.
- Assist with the implementation and carrying out of Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). Training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, stock movement and organisation.
- Support other technical and operational tasks as required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has a strong background in testing, diagnosing and fault-finding electronic and audio-visual equipment.
- Will be comfortable with heavy lifting
- Is confident using hand tools and test equipment.
- Has good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Has a positive attitude and is willing to help with a variety of tasks.
- PAT testing experience or a PAT testing qualification would be advantageous, although training can be provided to the right candidate.
