Wards was established in 1988 as Castle Commercial and has been based in Hinckley, Leicestershire since inception. We are a full-service property consultancy providing a wide range of services including Residential Sales & Lettings, Commercial Sales & Lettings, Property Management, Block & Estate Management, RICS ‘Red Book’ Valuations, Homebuyers Surveys (RICS Level 1 & Level 2), Lease Advisory (Rent Reviews and Lease Renewals), Schedules of Dilapidations and Condition and Land Registry Plans.
We are Chartered Surveyors and accordingly the way in which we collect rent and service charges (client money) is closely regulated and monitored by our professional body – the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Job Summary
The role is for a Credit Controller for our busy block and estate management department and will consist predominantly of chasing late service charge payments.
We have been carrying out block and estate management since 1989. We now proactively manage in excess of 80 developments across the wider Midlands within Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Staffordshire. Our portfolio includes a diverse range of properties, from small blocks of apartments to extensive housing developments.
The working hours are 22.5 hours per week but the hours can be split over our regular opening hours.
Core Responsibilities
- Debt Recovery: Chase late payments primarily by email and letter but occasionally by phone
- Recovery Action: Including instructing solicitors, contacting lenders, court applications (as appropriate)
- Account Reconciliation: Match payments to invoices
- Payment Negotiation: Set up realistic repayment plans for clients.
- Reporting: Track debts and report to line manager
- Other Duties: Assisting where necessary with other duties within the block management accounts department.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Communication: Strong speaking and negotiation skills for difficult talks.
- Organization: Ability to hit deadlines and manage heavy workloads.
- IT Skills: Good knowledge of Excel and accounting software. Knowledge of Resident Software an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy when handling financial records.
- Experience: Prior work in accounts receivable or finance desirable
Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
