We are looking for a reliable, sharp-thinking Desk Operator to join our busy taxi office team. As the first point of contact for our customers and the "voice in the ear" for our drivers, you will be responsible for taking bookings accurately and ensuring our fleet runs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Answering Calls: Handling high volumes of customer enquiries and bookings professionally.
- Dispatching: Using our dispatch software to assign jobs to drivers and monitor their progress.
- Customer Service: Providing accurate quotes, estimated arrival times, and resolving any passenger issues.
- Administration: Entering booking data accurately into the system and handling basic office paperwork.
- Driver Support: Communicating clearly with drivers via radio/data terminal to ensure smooth shift transitions.
Requirements
- Communication: Excellent telephone manner and clear spoken English.
- Tech Savvy: Ability to use basic computer software (training on our dispatch system will be provided).
- Local Knowledge: A good understanding of [Insert Your Town/City] and surrounding areas is a huge plus.
- Multitasking: Ability to stay calm and organized under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Pay & Benefits
- Salary: National Minimum Wage (reviewed annually).
- From 1 April 2026: £12.71 per hour (for age 21+).
- Full training provided on our dispatch systems.
