About the Role
We are recruiting Specialist ASC Mentors in Manchester to support autistic students studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You’ll meet students one-to-one, in person, helping them overcome challenges, build independence and develop strategies that support their studies and wellbeing. This is a flexible, term-time role with a competitive rate of £27.00 per hour plus holiday pay, pension, sick pay and clinical supervision. We welcome applicants able to commit to 25+ hours per week during term time and with experience supporting both ASC and ADHD.

The Ideal Candidate
An honours degree in any subject
Eligibility under SFE’s Mandatory Criteria for Band 4 Specialist Mentor – Autism Spectrum Conditions (SM-ASC)
At least 3 years’ experience working with autistic young people or adults
Knowledge of practical strategies for supporting ASC and ADHD
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to disability equity and inclusive education
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience working with diverse and multicultural communities
What You’ll Do
Mentor autistic students at university on a one-to-one basis
Support students to manage the impact of autism on study and daily life
Promote resilience, independence and wellbeing
Help with organisation, time management and study strategies
Encourage personal responsibility and life skills development
Monitor wellbeing and assess risk when necessary
Liaise with universities, GPs and other professionals where appropriate
Maintain records and confidentiality in line with GDPR
