Culcheth High School are looking to appoint an Independent Learning Centre Manager with excellent knowledge of literature and a passion for books, to join our highly successful school in North Cheshire. Duties are outlined within the recruitment pack and include:

Planning and delivering ILC Year 7 induction lessons and refreshers for other year groups

Dealing with student enquiries and providing information as required

Maintaining the computerised library system

Supervising students at break and lunchtimes and maintaining appropriate standards of behaviour

Promoting a reading culture throughout the school

Support for student intervention programs and literacy initiatives within the ILC

Ensuring resources are up to date, staying informed of new releases and ensuring books are relevant to curriculum developments

Raising the profile of the ILC though exciting events, author visits and competitions

Managing the ILC budget
The successful candidate will manage the day to day operation of the ILC, overseeing resources and creating a learning environment that supports academic achievement and a love of reading. We are seeking candidates who can develop and promote the ILC as a vibrant and engaging environment. This is a varied, interesting but demanding role. A proactive attitude, a willingness to be flexible and adaptable, and the desire to make a difference to student achievement are all key.
Applicants should have experience of working within a library or in an educational setting, The successful candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
You will be knowledgeable and passionate about books and be able to communicate that enjoyment to students. You will be confident and assertive with the ability to manage student behaviour in a busy ILC environment. You will be technologically savvy, with experience of Word, Excel and a relevant database or equivalent. A helpful, positive and proactive disposition is essential.
