Wade Construction are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in the West Midlands. The successful applicant will join a team working on a variety of projects from housing maintenance to Data Centre projects in the UK and Europe with values ranging from £1k to £20m. Intermittent overseas working / staying away from home will be required.
Role:
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will demonstrate broad commercial skills and a strong background, whilst understanding the commercial drivers, risk profiles and key success factors for Clients procuring construction/civils works. As quantity surveyor you will be responsible but not limited to the following:
- Working on multiple projects
- Preparation and issuing detailed financial reports i.e., budget monitoring, monthly cost & value etc.
- The measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings), for valuations, variations and final accounts, including attending sites in Europe
- Assisting in the preparation of commercial reports for contract review meetings
- Production of schedules, bills of quantities etc.
- Assessing and identification of risks
- Attend and contribute to meetings, both face to face and via Teams
- Assist with the preparation and issue of contractual letters and documentation to clients and sub-contractors
- Agreement and certification of sub-contractors’ interim valuations and final accounts
- Management of variations from client - ensuring all additional works are correctly recorded in line with the contract and adequate records are maintained on site to ensure the full revenue recovery
- Prepare and issue sub-contract / supplier enquiries and assessment of quotations upon receipt to allocating work to subcontractors / suppliers
- Preparation of interim valuations / CVRs and final accounts, including all supporting information for materials on site, variations and measurement
- Management of project costs and budget projections
- Assist with extension of time / loss and expense claims
- Maintain positive monthly cashflow
- Always present in a professional manner
- Assist the construction team to ensure the effective management of all projects under your control are carried out in accordance with client requirements, current legislation and industry standards
Skills / Requirements:
We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated individual with a track record and a commitment for delivering excellence. You will have solid experience in working as part of a large team and successfully delivering high value projects. You will need the appropriate educational qualifications such as a HNC or degree in Quantity Surveying. The right individual will work safely and strive for exceptional levels of performance.
The successful applicant will be adaptable to the various project demands and capable of working to and achieving targets. An ability to report on the current and forecast cost and profit and loss position of the project and an ability to control and forecast costs is essential.
Education and Skills Required:
- Proficient in all Microsoft office excel, word, outlook
- Excellent contractual knowledge
- Adherence to deadlines is essential
- Min. 5 years post graduate Contractor QS Experience
- Strong contract skills and understanding
- Excellent IT skills
- Excellent time management and negotiation skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- HND / Bachelor's Quantity Surveying or similar qualification
- Excellent English written and oral skills
