Trainee Dental Nurse / Receptionist
About Us
Jorvik Dental Practice is a private dental practice based in Nether Poppleton, York. We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Dental Nurse / Receptionist to join our friendly and dynamic team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing exceptional patient care and enjoys working as part of a supportive dental team. We welcome applications from GDC-registered Dental Nurses, as well as candidates who are keen to train and develop their dental nursing skills.
The Role
As a Dental Nurse / Receptionist, you will play an important role in supporting our clinicians and ensuring patients receive a high standard of care from the moment they contact the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing efficient and professional chairside assistance during a range of dental procedures.
- Preparing and ensuring the correct instruments, materials and equipment are available for each clinical session.
- Supporting patients throughout their treatment, helping them feel comfortable, reassured and well informed.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records and clinical documentation.
- Carrying out effective sterilisation and infection-control procedures in accordance with practice standards.
- Communicating clearly with patients regarding appointments, treatment plans and aftercare.
- Working closely with dentists and the wider team to ensure an efficient and positive patient journey.
- Undertaking reception duties, including answering telephone calls, welcoming patients and booking appointments.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe clinical environment.
- Keeping up to date with current dental procedures, technologies and best practice.
- Being willing to learn and develop new clinical and administrative skills.

Qualifications & Experience
- GDC registration as a Dental Nurse is desirable.
- We are also happy to consider applicants who are looking to train as a Dental Nurse and are committed to developing a career within dentistry.
- Previous dental or healthcare experience would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.
Development & Additional Skills
We actively encourage professional development and would welcome Dental Nurses who have, or would like to develop, additional skills and responsibilities.
Experience or qualifications in areas such as:
- Treatment Coordination (TCO)
- Implant nursing
- Dental radiography
- Team leadership
- Additional clinical skills
would be desirable.
