About the service
This is an opportunity to lead and develop a CQC-regulated specialist care service supporting children aged 0-17 and young people aged 18-25 in their own homes. The service supports individuals whose needs may include complex medical conditions, learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities and other associated complex needs.
The service is at an early stage of development, with no service users or established management team currently in place. The successful candidate will therefore play a key role in building the service, recruiting and developing the staff team, establishing strong systems and supporting sustainable growth.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced, passionate and highly motivated Registered Manager to take overall responsibility for leadership, operations, quality, regulatory compliance and service performance. You will ensure that children and young people receive safe, outstanding and person-centred care that promotes independence, dignity, choice and positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities
· Provide effective leadership and day-to-day operational management of the service.
· Recruit, lead, supervise, motivate and develop a capable staff team, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, skill mix and deployment.
· Establish a positive culture focused on safeguarding, quality, accountability and excellent outcomes.
· Complete and maintain the Registered Manager registration requirements with CQC and lead preparations for CQC inspections.
· Ensure compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations, CQC Fundamental Standards and safeguarding legislation.
· Develop and maintain robust quality assurance, governance, audit and performance-monitoring systems.
· Act as Safeguarding Lead and embed effective safeguarding and positive risk-management practices throughout the service.
· Ensure care and support plans are person-centred, outcome-focused and regularly reviewed.
· Build strong relationships with families, local authorities, NHS partners, commissioners, social workers and other professionals.
· Participate in assessments and transition planning for prospective service users, supporting safe and appropriate packages of care and responsible service growth.
Essential requirements
· Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, or willingness to achieve it within an agreed timescale.
· Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or Senior Manager within a CQC-regulated service.
· Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations, Fundamental Standards and safeguarding legislation.
· Experience supporting children, young people and/or adults with learning disabilities and autism.
· Proven experience of managing teams and delivering high-quality care services.
· Excellent leadership, communication, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
· Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable experience
· Supporting people with complex needs and behaviours of concern.
· Working with integrated health and social care teams.
· Contributing to or achieving a Good or Outstanding CQC rating.
· Service mobilisation, team building, referrals, commissioning relationships or business development.
