Are you an experienced Design Engineer who enjoys seeing your designs actually come to life?
We’re working exclusively with a growing specialist manufacturer looking for a talented CAD Designer / Manufacturing Design Engineer to join their in-house team.
This is much more than simply producing drawings. You’ll take designs and concepts and turn them into accurate, practical manufacturing information, working closely with colleagues across projects, production and CNC to make sure what is designed can be manufactured efficiently and to an exceptionally high standard.
It’s a brilliant opportunity to join an ambitious business investing in its people, technology and facilities, with plenty of scope to develop as the company continues to grow.
What you’ll be doing:
- Producing detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Turning design concepts and technical information into practical, production-ready solutions
- Creating component, assembly and detailed manufacturing drawings
- Working closely with Project, Production, Commercial and CNC teams
- Reviewing designs to identify potential manufacturing issues before they reach production
- Managing drawing revisions and ensuring information remains accurate and up to date
- Liaising with customers, designers and other stakeholders where required
- Resolving technical and design challenges as projects progress
- Producing clear, accurate information for manufacture, procurement and installation
- Managing several projects simultaneously while maintaining excellent attention to detail
What we’re looking for:
- Strong, demonstrable SolidWorks experience
- Previous experience producing detailed drawings for manufacture
- A good understanding of how products/components are actually manufactured – not purely conceptual design
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, interiors or similarly technical environment
- Confidence interpreting technical and architectural drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical people
- Able to manage changing priorities and multiple projects
- An Engineering or Product Design degree would be an advantage
Experience with CNC manufacturing, specialist materials or SolidWorks add-on manufacturing software would be advantageous but isn’t essential for the right person.
Why consider this opportunity?
- £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience and technical capability
- Join a successful and growing specialist manufacturer
- Work on genuinely interesting, bespoke projects rather than repetitive production work
- Modern manufacturing environment with investment in technology and equipment
- Work closely with production and see your designs become finished products
- Supportive, experienced team around you
- Excellent opportunity to broaden your technical knowledge
- Genuine scope to develop as the business continues to grow
- Permanent, Monday–Friday position
This could suit an established Design Engineer looking for a fresh challenge, or someone from a strong manufacturing design background ready to take on more responsibility.
If you’re confident with SolidWorks, understand design for manufacture and take real pride in producing accurate work, we’d love to hear from you.
