We are a very busy and friendly 165-place day nursery looking for an experienced Nursery Administrator to join our team. This is a part-time role (approximately 32 hours per week) designed to help support our management team, allowing them to spend more time with staff and children in our rooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle all government funding administration for children’s 15 and 30-hour entitlements
- Check eligibility codes, submit forms, and manage ongoing funding compliance
- Oversee the registration of new children and manage their associated payments
- Maintain accurate records and liaise with local authorities and parents regarding funding and fees
- Support managers by handling day-to-day administrative tasks to keep the nursery running smoothly
- Manage office correspondence, including emails and phone calls, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Assist in the organisation of files, documents, and records to ensure easy access and retrieval.
- Support daily administrative functions, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating travel arrangements.
- Maintain an organised office environment by ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is functioning properly.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and improve overall office efficiency.
- Handle clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, and filing documents as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in administration, preferably in a nursery or educational setting
- Strong numerical skills, ideally with bookkeeping experience
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) are essential
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work well with staff, parents, and external bodies
- Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Drive) is essential.
- Strong typing skills with a focus on accuracy in data entry tasks.
- Previous experience in an administrative or clerical role is preferred.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional phone manner.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
