Job Description
We are seeking a commercially focused and proactive Finance Business Partner to provide financial insight, analysis, and strategic support across contract operations. The role is responsible for analysing financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and delivering accurate reporting to support informed decision-making.
Working closely with Contract Managers, operational leaders, and clients, you will act as a trusted business partner, providing financial guidance and challenge to drive performance, improve profitability, and ensure compliance with company policies and governance requirements.
This is a highly visible role that combines financial expertise with strong stakeholder management skills. You will be responsible for translating financial information into meaningful business insights, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and influencing operational and strategic decisions.
Key aspects of the role include monitoring financial performance, identifying areas for improvement, evaluating investment opportunities, and developing recommendations that support the achievement of contractual objectives and wider organisational goals.
Through effective business partnering, you will help ensure robust financial control, continuous improvement, and sustainable value creation for both the organisation and its clients.
Responsibilities
Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to Contract Managers and operational leaders, providing financial insight, challenge, and support to drive business performance.
Prepare and present timely, accurate financial reports, translating financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Monitor and maintain the financial health of the contract, ensuring revenue, costs, profitability, and cash flow are effectively managed.
Analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and business plans, identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions where required.
Deliver robust monthly forecasting and support the development and management of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
Provide detailed analysis of costs, pricing, productivity, and operational performance to support commercial decision-making and continuous improvement.
Identify and deliver opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and value creation across the contract.
Ensure supplier payments are managed in accordance with contractual obligations, company policies, and prompt payment requirements.
Develop financial models, trends, and projections to support strategic planning and long-term business objectives.
Support internal and external audit requirements, ensuring strong financial controls, governance, and compliance are maintained.
Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Operational Managers, Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement teams, Project Managers, clients, and suppliers.
Challenge and influence stakeholders to drive financial accountability, operational excellence, and the achievement of contractual and organisational objectives.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes, controls, reporting, and overall business performance.
Requirements and SkillsEssential
Proven experience in a Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant, or similar commercially focused finance role.
Experience within Facilities Management or other contract-based service environments.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful business insights.
Advanced financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling skills.
Strong understanding of management accounting principles, financial controls, and performance reporting.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at all levels.
Proficiency in financial and reporting systems, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively across operational, commercial, and finance functions.
Sound knowledge of relevant financial regulations, governance requirements, and accounting standards.
Desirable
Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent), or part-qualified with significant relevant experience.
Experience supporting large-scale contracts, projects, or programmes.
Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP and business intelligence/reporting tools.
Experience of working in a client-facing environment and presenting financial information to senior stakeholders.
