Disability Support Worker
Some roles happen behind a desk. This one happens in the middle of a busy school day – where no two hours are quite the same.
We’re working with a school in Blackburn looking for a Disability Support Worker to provide consistent, thoughtful support to pupils with additional needs.
The Role
You’ll be part of the school day from start to finish, helping pupils access learning in a way that works for them.
You’ll:
· Support pupils with disabilities throughout the school day
· Assist with personal care where required
· Help manage routines, transitions and classroom activities
· Work closely with teachers and support staff
· Encourage participation, communication and independence
This isn’t about standing on the sidelines – you’ll be actively involved in helping pupils feel included and understood.
About You
This role suits someone who is steady, observant and comfortable working in a structured environment.
We’re looking for someone who:
· Has experience in care, support work or education
· Feels confident supporting children or young people with additional needs
· Communicates clearly with both pupils and staff
· Understands boundaries and maintains professionalism
· Brings a calm, practical approach to each day

Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Role Type: Full Time/ Part Time/ Temp - Perm
Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90
Working Hours
Monday – Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm

As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Pay: £14.60-£16.90 per hour
