About us
The LSS is made up of 4 teams (Cognition and Learning, ASC, Visual Impairment, and Deaf Education) who work to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in schools and settings across Salford. Each of these teams is made up of dedicated teachers and teaching assistants who have both experience and additional qualifications in their area of expertise, and we work closely with a range of other professionals to ensure the best possible service for the children and schools of Salford. Through consultation, specialist support, training, and assessment, we aim to offer both a high level of support and professional challenge to schools to help them develop and maintain good inclusive practices and improve outcomes for children and young people with a range of SEND.
About the Role
Based at Unity House, our teachers work in schools and settings delivering training, providing support to SENCOs and visiting children and young people with identified SEND across Salford to support them, their teachers and TAs to ensure that they receive a high quality education. As a teacher with extensive knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with SEND you will be working to support schools as part of the LA Experts at Hand offer. There are a number of roles available across both the Cognition and Learning and ASC teams, giving the opportunity to work with children and young people from early years through to post 16 and make a significant difference to children, families and schools / settings across the city. The successful candidates will join a highly experienced and supportive team of teachers and TAs, with a strong culture of collaboration and continuous professional development. All the teachers within the LSS are employed on teachers terms and conditions; the salary will reflect experience and is across both main and upper pay scale, with the addition of an SEN allowance.
About you
A qualified and experienced teacher, you will be an outstanding practitioner with knowledge of legislation in relation to SEN, have experience working with children and / or young people with additional needs, have excellent interpersonal skills, and have a secure knowledge and understanding of the challenges that children / young people with SEND and schools/ settings face. You will be comfortable working with a fluctuating caseload across the city, offering assessment, advice, and professional challenge across a range of ages and schools. You will also have experience of working with multi-agency partners and be confident to offer INSET and facilitate meetings. You will want to join a team of highly motivated and experienced professionals dedicated to providing excellent support to children, young people and schools to help ensure their engagement and success within education.

The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month.
