Founded in 2012, Gen-C Ltd is an independent industrial gas engine specialist based in Dinnington, near Sheffield in South Yorkshire.
Gen-C is the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Motortech, a German manufacturer of industrial gas engine control systems. The company supplies parts, systems and upgrades for all types of gas engines, with particular expertise in biogas and combined heat and power applications.
Alongside the parts business, our projects team is a UK market leader in the manufacture and retrofit of open-access generator control panels. The two halves of the business work closely together, with many of the components we distribute used within our own project solutions.
Key roles and responsibilities
· Manufacture of generator control panels and power sections.
· Retrofit of existing generator control systems and engine components on our clients’ sites.
· Installation of control panels and power sections into generator containers and termination of field wiring.
· General electrical work such as:
o Installation of small light and power in generator containers.
o Installation of cable containment and termination of power cables from the alternator to the air circuit breaker (ACB).
Key skills and qualities typical for the role
· Electrical background essential.
· Able to read and follow technical drawings, both electrical and mechanical.
· Able to complete work to a consistently high standard.
· Be willing to work away from home.
· Flexible approach, with a willingness to put in the hours when a project demands it.
· Meticulous attention to detail.
· A team player who also works well unsupervised and takes ownership of their own workload.
· Good organisational skills.
· Be able to work to deadlines.
· Adaptable to multiple roles dependent on business needs.
· Full UK driving licence required.
Role summary
At its simplest, this role covers the manufacture and installation of all components surrounding gas and diesel generators, with panel wiring as the primary focus. In practice it has many layers, and the right person will need a broad range of skills to succeed. Gen-C offers the successful candidate the chance to broaden that skill base through training, including the opportunity to progress into the commissioning of diesel and gas generators. The role is not limited to installation engineering, and other opportunities may become available to the right person.
This is a full-time, permanent role, predominantly site-based with occasional workshop panel builds.
Pay: - £35,000 -£40,0000 dependant on experience
