Hastings Freight is seeking a hands-on, commercially aware Network Service Manager to lead and develop the Traffic team and day drivers, strengthen network performance, and improve operational efficiency and customer service. The successful candidate will take ownership of key operational targets and champion continuous improvement across the network.
Key responsibilities
· Lead, develop and support the Traffic team and day drivers through clear direction, coaching and performance management.
· Take ownership of network KPIs, including collections, deliveries, input, driver ETA, turnaround times and bay clearance.
· Manage holiday and run allocation, driver compliance, hub overspill, stand trailers and daily operational continuity.
· Resolve operational issues proactively and maintain effective communication with customers, depots, drivers and colleagues.
· Use performance data and team feedback to identify efficiencies, improve service delivery and support revenue opportunities.
What you’ll need
· Strong knowledge of transport operations, traffic planning, network performance, and relevant systems and procedures.
· Confident leadership skills with the ability to coach, support and manage performance effectively.
· Strong organisation, time management and decisive problem-solving skills.
· Clear communication skills and the ability to explain decisions and build trust with colleagues and drivers.
· Commercial awareness, customer focus and a proactive approach to efficiency and continuous improvement.
