Join one of Manchester's favourite independent wine bars.
The Beeswing is an independent wine bar and tapas restaurant in Kampus, Manchester city centre. We're passionate about exceptional food, great wine and warm hospitality.
We're looking for a talented chef to become a key part of our small kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with fresh ingredients, takes pride in consistency, and wants genuine input into how a kitchen operates.
This is more than a service role. We're looking for someone who wants to take ownership of the kitchen, contribute ideas, improve systems and become an important part of our long-term plans.
Unlike larger restaurant groups, your ideas won't disappear into head office. We're actively developing our menu and kitchen systems, so you'll have the opportunity to influence dishes, improve processes and help shape the future of the business.
The Role
You'll be responsible for producing our tapas menu to a consistently high standard, while helping maintain an organised, efficient kitchen.
As a small independent venue you'll sometimes work independently, or supported by a KP during busier services, so we're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their section and works calmly under pressure.

- Complete daily prep and mise en place.
- Follow recipes while contributing ideas for improvements.
- Assist with menu development and seasonal dishes.

- Ensure excellent allergen management and food safety.
- Complete HACCP and compliance records.
- Maintain a 5★ Food Hygiene Rating.
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and service-ready.
- Work closely with FOH to deliver excellent guest experiences.
- Support training of junior staff where required.
We're looking for someone who...
- Has experience as a Chef de Partie or similar.
- Enjoys cooking with fresh ingredients.
- Can confidently run a small kitchen.
- Is organised and proactive.
- Understands stock control and food costs.
- Wants to contribute ideas rather than simply follow instructions.
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Enjoys working collaboratively in a small independent business.
Spanish or tapas experience is a bonus but not essential.
Hours
35-40 contracted hours per week - hours to be discussed.
Weekend availability is essential.
Additional hours are available during holidays, events and busy periods.
No split shifts.
No late-night finishes - kitchen closes at 9pm (7pm Sundays).
What we offer
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
- Excellent TRONC (typically around £5k).
- Annual performance bonus of up to £2,000.
- Gym membership.
- Real input into menu development.
- Opportunities to grow an independent business.
- Supportive, close-knit team.

This role would suit someone looking to make a real impact in a growing independent business, rather than being another number in a large kitchen brigade.
