ABOUT THE ROLE
Avalon Group is looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our friendly team in Skipton. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in meaningful work and make a positive impact on people’s everyday lives.
ABOUT THE INDIVIDUALS YOU WILL SUPPORT
You will be supporting two gentlemen with autism and learning disabilities who thrive with consistency, routine, and person-centred support. Both individuals express their preferences, needs, and emotions through gestures, routines, and their interactions with trusted people. They are supported by staff who take the time to understand their unique communication styles and who value building positive, trusting relationships.
Both gentlemen enjoy active lifestyles and spending time in the community. They particularly enjoy walking, visiting local places of interest, using public transport, swimming, music, and a variety of leisure activities. They benefit from support workers who are energetic, patient, and willing to engage alongside them in the things they enjoy.
The people we support flourish in calm, positive environments where routines are understood and respected. They respond well to support workers who are compassionate, observant, and able to provide reassurance when situations become unfamiliar or challenging. Building meaningful relationships, promoting independence, and creating opportunities for enjoyable experiences are key aspects of this role.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is physically active, enjoys supporting people to lead fulfilling lives, and is committed to providing high-quality, person-centred support that makes a genuine difference every day.
