Job Overview
We are seeking a time served Sheet Metal Worker to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming stainless steel and mild steel into finished metal products through various fabrication techniques. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to high-quality projects that meet precise specifications. The ideal applicant will have a strong background in metalwork, be able to perform Mig and Tig welding processes, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently with a range of tools and machinery.
Responsibilities
- Cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components using hand tools, power tools, and specialised machinery
- Performing welding, grinding, and other fabrication processes to produce accurate and durable metal parts
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure precise fabrication
- Applying mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues and optimise production processes
- Handling sheet metal and other raw materials with care to minimise waste and ensure quality standards are met
- Assisting with the assembly of fabricated components into finished products or structures
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Conducting inspections of completed work to verify accuracy and quality before final assembly or delivery
Skills
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, grinding, and assembly of metal components
- Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of sheet metal properties and handling techniques
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised tooling used in metalwork
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and measurements accurately
- Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during fabrication processes
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to welding, grinding, cutting, and handling heavy materials
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Good communication skills to collaborate within a team environment
