Background
Since 2020, Stoned has grown rapidly, now with six food trucks along the South West’s north coast, employing more than 40 seasonal staff. Our vision is simple: to employ great people, in inspiring coastal locations, serving the best wood-fired pizza and creating special memories for everyone. The highest quality of ingredients and standards of preparation are critical to this and therefore so is every member of our kitchen team, including this role.
The role
We're currently looking for Kitchen Assistants to join our central kitchen team, reporting to our Head Chef.
This is a flexible seasonal role mainly for the June, July, August period and into September. We can offer 30-50 hours per week in the summer weeks and 15-30 hours per week outside the main holidays.
You'll be based at our Stoned Pizza HQ at Mullacott, near Ilfracombe, which also houses our distribution centre and training facility. There's on-site parking and we're on the local bus routes.
Duties will include:
- Daily prep of our dough which is a specialist skill we'll teach you
- Preparation of our sauce and over 20 toppings.
- Taking in and signing off supplier deliveries
- Picking and packing pizza truck orders
- Cleaning and maintaining a tidy/organised kitchen and wider area (note, this is not a KP job, everyone does a share of the pot washing and cleaning).
In terms of start/finish times, this is probably the best kitchen hours you could find, nothing unsociable about these. We start at 8am and normally finish around 4:30pm, but could be earlier/later depending on how many pizzas we're forecasting. So you'll need to have some flexibility, but you don't need to put up with late night finishing.

Who we're looking for
It's likely you'll have worked in a commercial kitchen, or a pub/restaurant before, but not essential. We can teach you knife skills, cooking and preparation expertise, so what we're looking for is:
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Someone who is reliable and committed
- Work and communicate well with others
- Have good knowledge of food preparation and production
We’re also strong believers in work-life balance and we flow with the seasons. During the summer months it's intense with long days, but we still limit working to 5 days a week, even. Outside this we work just 2-3 days a week.
Your on-boarding will include:
- Full briefing on the Stoned Pizza from it's beginings in Croyde
- Kitchen briefing
- Time working on one of our trucks
You'll be joining a young team, many of whom are uni/college students, but under the leadership of our very experienced Head Chef.

Pay: £11.00-£13.00 per hour
