Job Summary:
The Multi-Skilled Decorator will be responsible for carrying out high-quality painting, decorating, and finishing works across a range of healthcare facilities, including clinical areas, wards, offices, and patient environments.
This role requires a skilled and professional tradesperson with experience working within live healthcare settings, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations and maintaining full compliance with infection control, health, and safety regulations.
The successful candidate will have a strong eye for detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work sensitively within environments that support vulnerable service users and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out all aspects of painting and decorating, including preparation, filling, sanding, priming, painting, wallpapering, and finishing to a high standard.
- Work with a range of finishes suitable for healthcare environments, including washable, antimicrobial, and durable coatings.
- Conduct minor repair works such as patch plastering and surface filling prior to decorating.
- Maintain compliance with infection control standards, ensuring appropriate containment, cleaning, and safe disposal of materials.
- Ensure all works are completed safely, respecting the privacy, dignity, and safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate job records and report on completed works, materials used, and any follow-up requirements.
- Inspect surfaces and report defects, damage, or areas requiring further maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, COSHH, and Safeguarding policies.
- Support other maintenance and facilities team members with minor multi-trade tasks when required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator in commercial, healthcare, or institutional environments.
- Competent in surface preparation, painting, finishing, and minor repairs.
- Experience working safely within live healthcare or sensitive environments (e.g., hospitals, mental health units, care facilities).
- Understanding of infection prevention and control (IPC) and the importance of cleanliness and containment.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to drive and have own vehicle to travel to different sites based in midlands
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent qualification).
