Job Overview
We are looking for a proactive and practical Health & Safety & Facilities Coordinator to join our team.This is a hands-on role responsible for supporting and maintaining high standards of health, safety and workplace compliance across the business. You will work closely with managers, supervisors, maintenance teams, employees and external contractors to ensure a safe working environment and help the company meet its legal and regulatory responsibilities.The role also has a strong focus on machinery and equipment safety, including planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspections, servicing and ensuring equipment remains safe and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Monitor compliance with current UK health and safety legislation, regulations and company policies.
- Carry out regular workplace health and safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain accurate H&S records, including accident reports, risk assessments and inspection records.
- Assist with developing, reviewing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
- Provide employees with appropriate health and safety information, instruction and training.
- Monitor PPE requirements and safe working practices.
- Support managers and supervisors by providing practical health and safety advice.
- Promote a positive and proactive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
Machinery, Equipment & Maintenance
- Monitor the condition and safe operation of machinery, plant and equipment.
- Coordinate and monitor planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Ensure servicing, maintenance and statutory inspections are completed within required timescales.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, servicing, repairs and inspections.
- Identify machinery defects and safety concerns and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Work with the maintenance team and external contractors to arrange repairs and servicing.
- Ensure machinery is safely isolated before maintenance or repair work, including appropriate lockout/tagout procedures where applicable.
- Monitor machine guarding, emergency stops and other safety devices to ensure they remain functional and compliant.
Facilities & Compliance
- Assist with COSHH assessments and ensure hazardous substances are correctly stored, handled and used.
- Support fire safety arrangements, including fire risk assessments, emergency procedures and evacuation drills.
- Monitor first aid arrangements and ensure appropriate provisions are maintained.
- Assist with contractor management and ensure contractors comply with site health and safety requirements.
- Liaise with external health and safety advisers, contractors and relevant authorities where required.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation and industry best practice.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required by management.
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical, proactive and confident in identifying and addressing health and safety issues.You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
- Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience carrying out risk assessments and workplace inspections.
- Experience investigating accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Good understanding of COSHH, PPE, fire safety and machinery safety.
- Experience or understanding of machine maintenance and planned preventative maintenance programmes.
- The ability to identify machinery defects and workplace safety issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe working practices where necessary.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent is desirable.
- Relevant engineering or mechanical maintenance qualifications would be advantageous.
- Relevant health and safety qualifications or experience will be considered.

Key Objective
To help ensure that all employees, visitors and contractors work in a safe environment, while supporting the company in meeting its legal, regulatory and internal health and safety responsibilities and ensuring that machinery and equipment are properly maintained, inspected and safe to operate.
Working Hours:
08.30 - 17.00 Monday - Thursday
08.30 - 16.00 Friday
Pay: £35,000.00 per year
