Job Overview
We are seeking a driven and customer-focused Assistant Branch Manager to join a successful sales-led branch operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious sales professional looking to take the next step into management while continuing to develop commercial and leadership skills.
Working closely with the Branch Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the branch, help drive sales growth, develop customer relationships, and motivate the team to achieve business objectives. The role combines hands-on sales activity with operational and leadership responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the Branch Manager in the day-to-day management and performance of the branch.
- Drive sales growth through proactive account management, business development, and customer engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Assist in leading, motivating, and developing the branch sales team to achieve individual and branch targets.
- Prepare and follow up quotations, negotiate opportunities, and maximise sales conversion rates.
- Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring all enquiries are handled professionally and efficiently.
- Monitor sales performance and support the implementation of strategies to increase revenue and profitability.
- Work closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Support branch marketing initiatives and local business development activities.
- Ensure company policies, procedures, and health & safety standards are adhered to at all times.
- Produce sales reports and provide regular updates on branch performance.
Requirements
- Previous experience within a sales-focused environment, ideally within distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, electrical, industrial, or merchant sectors.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in account management, business development, or internal sales.
- Strong commercial awareness and customer relationship-building skills.
- Leadership or supervisory experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven approach.
- Competent IT skills, including CRM and Microsoft Office applications.
