The Hideaway @ Discovery is a vibrant, community- and family-focused café and events space located in the heart of Stoke Bishop. Alongside serving high-quality coffee and freshly prepared food, we host a variety of private hires, community gatherings, and special events.
We pride ourselves on warm hospitality, a welcoming atmosphere, and fostering a supportive, fun, and driven team environment. We’re now looking for an experienced Front of House Team Member to join our close-knit team and support both our day-to-day café service and growing events programme.
Role Overview
As an experienced barista with an interest in events, you’ll bring your passion for coffee, people, and hospitality to every shift. You’ll prepare expertly crafted drinks, deliver outstanding customer service, and play an active role in supporting café events and private hires. Part of the role includes asssiting and supporting the Kitchen team.
This role is primarily daytime, Monday to Thursday, with flexibility required to support evening events and weekends. Additional hours may also be required to cover annual leave.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver warm, attentive, and efficient service to café guests and event attendees
- Prepare high-quality espresso-based drinks and other beverages with consistency and care
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the coffee equipment, bar area, and café space to a high standard
- Assist with opening and closing duties and stock management of coffee, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, cakes, and all consumables
- Provide bar service, including serving wine, beer, and other beverages.
- Support café events, kitchen team, private hires, including setup, service, and breakdown
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth service during busy periods and events
- Take initiative in improving processes and contributing ideas to enhance customer experience
- Represent the café’s community values and uphold a friendly, respectful environment at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Ideally, 1–2 years of barista experience in a busy, customer-focused setting
- Confident in coffee preparation, latte art, and espresso machine maintenance
- Previous experience with bar service (wine, beer, and other beverages)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Abiltily to adapt easily to meet the demands of the business
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and genuine love for people
- A proactive mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced café and events environment
- Availability to work Monday to Sunday.

Pay: £12.75-£13.50 per hour
