That's Slice. Oxford's first indoor golf simulator bar — Trackman bays, interactive darts, a properly stocked bar, and New York-style pizza that holds its own against all of it. We're based in Botley and we've had a strong start. Now we're looking for a reliable Second Chef to join our growing kitchen team.
THE ROLE
This is a hands-on role working closely with our Head Chef to deliver consistently great food in a fast-paced, friendly kitchen. You'll be involved in food preparation, service, stock rotation, deliveries and keeping the kitchen running smoothly.
Our menu is built around 18-inch New York-style pizza slices and a selection of rotating bar snacks and small plates. It's not overcomplicated, but it does need to be delivered quickly, consistently and with pride.
You'll typically work 30–35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. As you grow into the role, you'll also be trusted to run the kitchen and cover the Head Chef's shifts during holidays, days off and other absences.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Supporting service – Preparing and cooking food to our standards while helping deliver smooth, efficient service.
Kitchen organisation – Assisting with prep, stock rotation, deliveries, cleaning and ensuring the kitchen stays organised throughout the day.
Food safety – Maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
Supporting the Head Chef – Helping with ordering, stock control and day-to-day kitchen tasks, while developing the confidence to run the kitchen when required.
Covering the kitchen – Taking responsibility for the kitchen during the Head Chef's holidays or other planned absences.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Someone with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for good food.
You'll ideally have previous experience in a professional kitchen, whether as a Commis Chef, Kitchen Assistant or Chef de Partie. Pizza experience is a bonus, but not essential—we can teach you that. What matters most is that you're organised, reliable, work well under pressure and want to develop your skills.
This role would suit someone looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to learn directly from our Head Chef and take on more responsibility over time.
