Are you a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with operations, not just sat behind a desk? Do you thrive in a fast‑paced environment where accuracy, insight and influence really matter? If you’re proactive, hands‑on and ready to support a complex, high‑volume operation, this could be the role for you!
Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for a Finance Manager to join our new retail distribution operation in Northampton. This is a purpose‑designed site, built to service over 250+ stores, with a strong focus on cost control, service delivery and continuous improvement—and finance plays a critical role in making that happen. You’ll be the financial lead on site, working closely with the leadership team to deliver robust reporting, insight and control across all financial workstreams, supporting both operational performance and the wider customer relationship.
This is a great opportunity to take ownership of finance on a new, flagship site. You’ll be working in a business where automation, scale and complexity come together—and where finance is central to delivering the right balance of cost, quality and service. You’ll have genuine visibility across the operation, the chance to influence decisions at site level, and the opportunity to build something from the ground up as the site continues to grow.
This is a full‑time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, either 08:00 – 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00. Flexibility will be required to support a 24/7 operation when needed, this is logistics after all!
Pay, benefits and more:
You’ll be paid a salary of up to £60,000 per annum, you’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical and dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more. You’ll also have access to our GXO University which provides you with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with. There’s also our continued focus on internal promotions, over 55% last year!
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead all site finance activity, producing accurate management accounts, P&L and balance sheet reporting
- Partner closely with the operational leadership team, providing insight on cost, performance and opportunities for improvement
- Own budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, ensuring financial integrity across all workstreams
- Drive cost control across the site, challenging spend and supporting efficient, value‑driven decisions
- Build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and the customer, supporting reporting, governance and business reviews
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA) with proven experience in a finance leadership role
- Strong background in a 3PL, logistics or similarly complex operational environment
- Confident working in a high‑volume, fast‑paced setting, where you’re close to the operation
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insight
- Excellent stakeholder management—able to influence at all levels and challenge constructively
- Commercial mindset with a clear focus on cost, efficiency and business performance
