Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Recovery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles and goods, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining excellent communication with clients and team members. This role requires a strong focus on safety, mechanical knowledge, and professional driving skills. The Recovery Driver position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting logistical operations across various locations.
Duties
- Operate commercial vehicles, including flatbed lorries and recovery trucks, in accordance with road safety regulations.
- Safely recover and transport vehicles or goods from accident sites, breakdowns, or designated locations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure optimal functioning.
- Assist with loading and unloading items at delivery points, ensuring proper securing of loads.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding schedules and any operational issues.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, recoveries, and vehicle inspections.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols during operations to minimise risks on the road and at recovery sites.
- Work on a rota to include some weekends and nights in call.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly as a delivery driver or recovery driver.
- Strong driving skills with a valid <PERSON> driver’s licence; experience with flatbed vehicles preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Previous warehouse experience is advantageous for handling goods efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Familiarity with recovery procedures and equipment handling for vehicle recovery tasks.
- Ability to operate safely under pressure in various weather conditions and terrains.
