Headway Shropshire is a leading charity supporting people across Shropshire who have experienced a brain injury. We help individuals rebuild confidence, regain independence and reconnect with their communities through practical support, meaningful activities and compassionate care.
About the role
We're looking for enthusiastic, creative and caring Community Wellbeing Centre Support Workers to join our team.
No two days are the same. You'll support clients in our Community Wellbeing Centre by planning and delivering engaging activities that encourage confidence, independence and social connection. One day you could be baking, gardening or leading an arts and crafts session, while the next might involve organising games, community outings or trying something completely new.

Working hours
This is a flexible part time position, with hours ranging from 7.5 to 22.5 hours per week.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who can work 22.5 hours across Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9.00am to 4.30pm. However, we are also happy to consider applicants who are available to work one or two of these days (7.5 to 15 hours per week).
If you are looking for full time hours, there may also be opportunities to increase your hours by working with our ABICS team, supporting clients in their own homes. This can be discussed further during the recruitment process.
Flexibility is appreciated, as working days may occasionally vary to meet the needs of the service.
Community support opportunities
For those looking to increase their hours, community support visits typically range from 6 to 12 hours per week and provide one to one support to help people live as independently as possible.
This may include:
- Shopping and meal preparation
- Attending appointments
- Supporting hobbies and social activities
- Household tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable home
- Building confidence and independence in everyday life
What we're looking for
Experience isn't essential. We're looking for people with the right values, a positive attitude and a genuine desire to support others. Full training will be provided.

- 30p per mile mileage allowance
- Paid travel time

Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Access to a smartphone
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (paid by Headway Shropshire, subject to terms and conditions)
