Job Description: Mobile Phone Testing Operative
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Mobile Phone Tester to inspect, test, and verify the functionality of smartphones and mobile devices before they are sold. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying hardware and software faults, ensuring devices meet quality standards, and accurately recording test results. We use industry leading software to functionally test the devices, and the successful candidate will receive full training on how to use this.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive functional testing on smartphones and tablets.
- Test key functions including:
- LCD/OLED display and touchscreen
- Battery health and charging
- Cameras (front and rear)
- Speakers and microphones
- Earpiece and vibration
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC
- Mobile network connectivity
- SIM card and SD card readers
- Fingerprint sensor and Face ID (where applicable)
- Physical buttons and ports
- Perform software diagnostics, factory resets, and operating system updates.
- Accurately record test results using internal systems or testing software.
- Identify faults and refer devices for repair when necessary.
- Ensure customer data is securely erased in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised testing workstation.
- Meet daily productivity and quality targets.
- Follow company health, safety, security, and data protection policies.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience testing or handling mobile phones or consumer electronics is useful but not essential.
- Good understanding of iOS devices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using mobile phone diagnostic software.

Terms of Employment
- Full-time – 37.5 hours per week, 9-5
- Workshop, warehouse, or refurbishment centre environment.
- May involve repetitive testing tasks and prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet business demands.
