We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Electrical Instructor/Assessor to join our training team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical training programmes, assessing learners’ progress, and ensuring they meet industry standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to share your expertise, support learners’ development, and contribute to the future of the electrical trade. The position is paid and requires a professional approach to teaching and assessment within a recognised educational environment.
We are looking for industry professionals who can demonstrate a good background knowledge of Electrical Installation and have the ability to communicate this to experienced and new electrical engineers.
You will be required to teach on our Electrical Installation courses from Level 2 to Level 3 (C&G2365). We deliver training and assessment at our centre at Hall Road, and this includes evening classes for new starters, 18th Edition (C & G 2382-18), Inspection and Testing L3 (C & G 2391-52) and EV Charging ( C & G 2921-34).
You should have relevant, up-to-date industry expertise and a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in an Electrical related subject. You would ideally also have an Assessor Award and a teaching qualification, or a commitment to achieving both within a specified period. Providing you are the right candidate for the role, we can provide you with an excellent level of support to guide you through your training and development to achieve these qualifications. We will also provide you with the excellent support of our existing teaching staff to support your teaching and develop your industry knowledge further.
Ideally a ECS Gold card would be an advantage.
This is a part-time post and will involve some evening and day training. This role is ideally suited to an experienced engineer who wants to try a teaching role and is motivated to share and develop their expertise.
Remuneration is based on a day rate which is subject to negotiation. There is potential for this to become a full-time post in the future.
The job could be on a self employed or employed basis. The rate will depend on you being self employed or employed.

Duties
- Deliver engaging and informative electrical training sessions tailored to diverse learner needs
- Assess learners’ practical skills and theoretical knowledge against industry standards and qualification criteria
- Develop and update assessment plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide constructive feedback to learners to facilitate their progress and professional growth
- Organise training schedules, resources, and learning materials efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes
- Support learners in preparing for certification examinations and industry placements
- Keep up-to-date with developments in electrical standards, regulations, and teaching methodologies
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance programme delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Proven experience in the electrical trade with relevant qualifications recognised by industry bodies
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Teaching or training experience is highly desirable, with the ability to motivate learners effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan lessons and assessments efficiently
- Proficiency in IT tools for record keeping, lesson planning, and communication purposes
- Outstanding organisational skills to manage multiple learners and administrative tasks simultaneously
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and confidently to diverse audiences
- A recognised assessor qualification or willingness to undertake assessor training if not already qualified
