Amazon & Marketplace Compliance Lead
Location & Reporting Structure
- Based in Leicester, United Kingdom.
- Hybrid working model with 2 days per week in the Leicester office (Tuesday & Thursday).
- Reports directly to the Senior Marketplace Manager.
- No direct reports. Provides day-to-day guidance, prioritisation, quality oversight and workload direction to two dotted-line team members based in the offshore India office.
Role Overview
Lead compliance across Amazon and other major online marketplaces, managing a catalogue of over 1 million SKUs and protecting revenue, marketplace trading privileges and account health across Amazon, TikTok Shop, SHEIN, TEMU, eBay and other international marketplaces.
The role is responsible for proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks, resolving complex marketplace enforcement actions, managing intellectual property claims and ensuring products remain compliant with marketplace policies and applicable product regulations. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the company's ability to trade across multiple marketplaces while driving continuous improvements to compliance processes.
Key Accountabilities
1. Amazon & Marketplace Compliance
- Own compliance activities across Amazon, TikTok Shop, SHEIN, TEMU, eBay and other relevant online marketplaces.
- Ensure listings comply with marketplace policies, intellectual property requirements, product regulations and marketplace-specific standards.
- Manage marketplace compliance documentation including product safety records, test reports, declarations of conformity, manufacturer information and supporting compliance evidence.
- Maintain accurate records to support marketplace audits, investigations and approval requirements.
2. Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance
- Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks before they impact sales, account health or marketplace trading privileges.
- Monitor changes to marketplace policies together with UK, EU and US regulatory requirements and implement appropriate controls.
- Recommend listing amendments, product restrictions or removals where compliance risks are identified.
- Escalate significant compliance risks with clear recommendations to protect revenue and brand reputation.
3. Marketplace Disputes & Account Health
- Lead investigations into policy violations, listing suppressions, product removals, restricted product issues, intellectual property claims and account health notifications.
- Prepare and submit high-quality appeals, Plans of Action (POAs) and supporting evidence to secure reinstatements and successful outcomes.
- Liaise with marketplace support teams and account managers to resolve complex compliance issues.
- Minimise trading disruption through effective prioritisation and timely resolution of compliance cases.
4. Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Act as the primary point of contact for marketplace compliance across the business.
- Build strong relationships with internal departments, suppliers, marketplace representatives and external partners.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, prioritisation and quality oversight to offshore compliance team members.
- Ensure compliance work is completed accurately and within agreed service levels while driving continuous improvement.
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience working in an ecommerce marketplace environment, with hands-on experience of Amazon and/or other major online marketplaces (such as eBay, TikTok Shop, TEMU or SHEIN) in a marketplace compliance, account health, catalogue quality or marketplace operations role.
- Experience managing marketplace compliance, including policy violations, listing suppressions, intellectual property claims, restricted product issues and account health matters.
- Experience preparing and submitting appeals, Plans of Action (POAs) and supporting documentation to marketplace teams.
- Experience working with large product catalogues in a fast-paced ecommerce environment.
- Experience interpreting marketplace policies and implementing processes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Strong understanding of marketplace performance metrics and the commercial impact of compliance decisions.
Desirable
- Experience working across multiple international marketplaces.
- Experience with Amazon Brand Registry and intellectual property protection programmes.
- Experience managing product safety documentation, declarations of conformity, testing documentation and regulatory compliance evidence.
- Understanding of UK, EU and US product compliance requirements.
- Experience leading or coordinating offshore or remote teams.
- Experience within fashion, footwear, textiles or general merchandise ecommerce.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of Amazon Seller Central and other major ecommerce marketplace platforms, with a solid understanding of marketplace compliance, account health, policy enforcement and platform-specific requirements.
- Determined, resilient and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to overcome complex compliance challenges and successfully challenge marketplace decisions where appropriate.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement preventative solutions.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly when preparing marketplace appeals, Plans of Action and supporting evidence.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence colleagues, suppliers and marketplace representatives.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities within a fast-paced ecommerce environment.
- Commercial awareness with a focus on protecting revenue, minimising disruption and safeguarding marketplace trading privileges.

Decision-Making & Authority
- Own compliance decisions relating to marketplace listings, appeals and enforcement actions.
- Recommend listing amendments, product removals or trading restrictions where compliance risks are identified.
- Escalate high-risk matters to the Senior Marketplace Manager and Directors where revenue, marketplace trading privileges or brand reputation may be impacted.
- Prioritise compliance workloads and allocate tasks across the wider compliance function to ensure business objectives are achieved.
