Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant educational team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting students aged 16-19 with special educational needs, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment. The successful candidate must have:
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Experience working with young people or adults with learning disabilities
- A valid DBS check (or be willing to complete one)
Duties
- Support teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and providing support for students with special educational needs, including those with autism and learning disabilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to encourage engagement, confidence and participation in classroom activities
- Assist learners with daily routines and promote independence, wellbeing and personal development
- Use effective communication skills to support students with a range of learning and communication needs
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual learner requirements
- Encourage positive behaviour through effective support and reinforcement strategies
- Monitor learner progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support teams, families and external professionals to support learner development
Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with young people or adults with learning disabilities, ideally within an education, care or support setting
- Experience supporting learners with additional needs, including autism or other developmental disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, caring and supportive approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues
- A commitment to creating an inclusive environment where every learner can achieve their potential

Pay: £14,000.00-£23,000.00 per year
