The Heavenly Cake Company has been creating handmade celebration cakes since 2005. We specialise in vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free cakes, all made to order in our dedicated nut-free bakery in Lewisham.
Everything we produce is handmade to order in our dedicated nut-free bakery, and quality and attention to detail are at the heart of everything we do.
We're looking for a reliable, enthusiastic person to join our small, friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys baking and would like to develop their skills in a professional bakery.
No commercial baking experience is necessary as full training will be provided.
The Role
You'll be involved in all aspects of our bakery, including:
- Baking cakes, brownies, cookies and other baked products
- Preparing ingredients
- Following recipes accurately and consistently
- Packing customer orders ready for nationwide delivery
- Managing customer orders using a Windows PC and smartphone
- Printing order paperwork and courier labels
- Cleaning and maintaining excellent food hygiene standards
- Working independently for much of the day
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in baking
- Is reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Works efficiently whilst maintaining high standards
- Can follow recipes accurately and consistently
- Is confident using a Windows PC and smartphone
- Is comfortable learning new computer software
- Is organised and able to manage multiple customer orders accurately
- Is happy working independently
- Is physically able to stand for most of the working day and lift bags of ingredients and baking equipment
Hours
- Tuesdays, 9.15am – approximately 3.30pm
- Flexibility to stay a little longer during busy periods when required
- Additional regular days (Thursday and possibly Friday) are expected to become available as the business grows
- Extra hours will also be available to cover holidays and busy periods, particularly at Christmas
Pay
£13.00 per hour

Please note: This is a hands-on role in a working bakery. During busy periods you'll need to work efficiently, stay organised and manage several tasks at once while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
