Business Development, Marketing & Social Value Coordinator
Department: Business Development
Location: Waltham Forest, with travel to Lura projects, client offices and events
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Reports to: Strategic Partnerships Director
Key working relationship: Managing Director
Role Purpose
To coordinate Lura’s social value commitments, marketing activity and business development support.
The postholder will maintain accurate records of contractual commitments and business opportunities, coordinate agreed activities, produce professional reports and communications, and ensure actions are completed within required timescales.
The role will work across operational, commercial and preconstruction teams and will develop in scope as the postholder gains experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Social Value
- Maintain Lura’s central social value commitments register across tenders and live contracts.
- Record contractual targets, actions, responsible persons, evidence requirements and completion dates.
- Produce project-specific social value delivery plans.
- Monitor progress and follow up outstanding actions with operational teams.
- Coordinate employment, training, work-experience, volunteering, school and community activities.
- Liaise with clients, residents, community groups, schools, colleges, charities and employment partners.
- Collect and validate evidence of delivery, including attendance records, photographs, testimonials and outcome data.
- Prepare monthly and contract-specific social value reports.
- Maintain an auditable record of activities and outcomes.
- Support the calculation and reporting of social value against applicable client requirements.
- Attend contract meetings and provide progress updates when required.
- Escalate commitments that are at risk of not being achieved.
2. Marketing and Communications
- Maintain a planned schedule of company communications and marketing activity.
- Produce project case studies, news stories, staff profiles and community updates.
- Coordinate content for Lura’s website and social media channels.
- Obtain appropriate project information, photographs, approvals and testimonials.
- Ensure published information is accurate, current and consistent with Lura’s brand.
- Maintain the company’s library of project descriptions, photographs and marketing material.
- Support the production and updating of brochures, presentations, capability statements and other corporate material.
- Coordinate award submissions and company announcements.
- Monitor engagement with published content and report on performance.
- Ensure relevant permissions and data-protection requirements are met before content is published.
3. Business Development
- Maintain accurate records of prospective clients, opportunities and pipeline activity.
- Undertake research into clients, contracts, procurement routes and market sectors.
- Support the preparation of client account plans and engagement activities.
- Coordinate actions arising from business development meetings.
- Prepare introductory information, presentations and capability statements.
- Assist with client communications, meeting arrangements and follow-up actions.
- Maintain contact information and records of client engagement.
- Support the identification of relevant networking and market-engagement opportunities.
- Assist senior management with the preparation of internal pipeline reports.
4. Bid Support
- Gather information from operational, commercial and support teams for tender submissions.
- Draft and coordinate social value, marketing and company information for bids.
- Research local employment, community and social-value priorities relevant to each opportunity.
- Identify potential delivery partners for proposed social value commitments.
- Maintain a library of approved case studies, statistics, evidence and standard responses.
- Record commitments made within successful tenders and transfer them into the central commitments register.
- Support tender presentations, clarification responses and interview preparation.
- Ensure bid information is accurate, consistent and submitted within agreed timescales.
5. Events and Engagement
- Coordinate Lura’s attendance at conferences, exhibitions, careers fairs and client events.
- Manage bookings, delegate information, promotional materials and event logistics.
- Support the delivery of resident, school and community events.
- Maintain an events calendar and ensure preparations are completed on time.
- Attend and represent Lura at agreed events.
6. Reporting and Administration
- Produce regular performance reports for the Strategic Partnerships Director and Managing Director.
- Maintain accurate electronic records, trackers and supporting documentation.
- Monitor deadlines and follow up responsible team members.
- Prepare meeting agendas, updates and action notes where required.
- Ensure information is stored consistently and remains accessible for audits, reports and future tenders.
- Comply with Lura’s document-control, data-protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the purpose and level of the role.
Key Accountabilities
The postholder will be accountable for:
- Maintaining an accurate and current social value commitments register.
- Ensuring social value evidence is complete and available for client reporting.
- Producing reports, case studies and communications to the agreed standard and deadline.
- Maintaining an accurate record of business development opportunities and actions.
- Following up actions and escalating delays or delivery risks.
- Ensuring published content is accurate, approved and appropriately presented.
- Providing reliable support for bids, presentations and client-engagement activity.
Performance Measures
Performance will be assessed against:
- Percentage of social value commitments delivered by the required date.
- Accuracy and completeness of the commitments register.
- Timeliness and quality of client reports.
- Availability and quality of supporting evidence.
- Delivery of the agreed marketing and communications schedule.
- Number and quality of completed case studies and project updates.
- Accuracy of business development and pipeline information.
- Completion of bid and event actions within agreed timescales.
- Feedback from clients, senior management and internal project teams.
Authority and Decision-Making
The postholder will be expected to:
- Coordinate agreed social value, marketing and engagement activities.
- Contact internal and external stakeholders to obtain information and progress actions.
- Prepare routine reports and communications for approval.
- Recommend activities, delivery partners and communication opportunities.
- Escalate missed deadlines, insufficient evidence and commitments at risk.
Contractual commitments, external expenditure and significant public communications must be approved by the relevant director.
Person Specification
Essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organise and manage multiple activities and deadlines.
- Ability to produce professional reports, presentations and written content.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Confidence communicating with clients, colleagues and external organisations.
- Ability to follow actions through and escalate issues appropriately.
- Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Willingness to learn about construction, public-sector procurement and social value.
- Ability to travel to projects, meetings and events when required.
Desirable
- Experience in social value, marketing, communications, business development, bid support or community engagement.
- Experience within construction, housing or another public-sector supply chain.
- Experience producing client reports or case studies.
- Experience coordinating events or community activities.
- Experience maintaining trackers, databases or customer relationship management systems.
- Understanding of public-sector social value requirements.
- Relevant qualification in marketing, communications, sustainability, business, construction or a related discipline.

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
