We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Registered Manager to join our newly established domiciliary care agency during the critical pre-registration phase with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in building a high-quality care service from the ground up.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Registered Provider and prospective Registered Manager to develop robust operational systems, policies, and procedures that meet CQC's Fundamental Standards. Initially, this role will be offered on a temporary hourly-paid contract, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position following successful CQC registration and commencement of service operations.
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adult Care), or currently working towards achieving it.
- Minimum of one year's experience as a Deputy Registered Manager or Assistant Registered Manager within a domiciliary care or adult social care setting.
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations, Fundamental Standards, Key Lines of Enquiry (or current Single Assessment Framework), and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrable experience supporting compliance, quality assurance, and service improvement.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic care management systems.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
Desirable
- Experience supporting a new care service through CQC registration.
- Knowledge of recruitment, staff supervision, and workforce development.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, and quality monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
CQC Registration Support
- Assist in preparing the organisation for Care Quality Commission registration.
- Support the Nominated Individual in developing all required documentation for registration.
- Review and implement policies and procedures in line with current legislation and CQC requirements.
- Ensure all governance systems are established before service commencement.
- Help prepare evidence demonstrating compliance with all Fundamental Standards.
- Participate in mock inspections and internal compliance reviews.
- Support preparation for the CQC registration interview by reviewing legislation, operational procedures, governance arrangements, safeguarding, staffing, medicines management, infection prevention, complaints handling, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
- Assist in responding promptly to any CQC requests for additional information.
During the CQC Registration Process
The successful candidate will play an active role in ensuring the agency successfully achieves CQC registration by:
- Preparing evidence required by CQC.
- Reviewing compliance against all regulatory requirements.
- Supporting the Registered Manager throughout the registration process.
- Assisting in preparation for the CQC registration interview.
- Demonstrating knowledge of governance, safeguarding, recruitment, staffing, complaints, medicines management, risk management, and quality assurance.
- Ensuring operational readiness before commencement of regulated activities.
