The Opportunity
We are looking for an organised and proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Assistant to join our team in Shepshed.
Working closely with our HSE Manager, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to help ensure the business maintains a safe, compliant and environmentally responsible workplace. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in Health, Safety and Environmental Management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role is based on site in Shepshed, Leicestershire, five days per week.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing day-to-day administrative support to the HSE Manager.
- Assisting with Health and Safety monitoring activities across the business.
- Supporting Health and Safety audits, preparing audit reports and following up on actions.
- Assisting with the management of fire safety and first aid arrangements.
- Supporting the preparation and review of risk assessments and other HSE documentation.
- Coordinating Health and Safety training and maintaining accurate records.
- Helping to promote a positive Health, Safety and Environmental culture throughout the business.
- Maintaining Health and Safety notice boards, signage and compliance documentation.
- Providing administrative support for Health and Safety Committee meetings.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to support compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company procedures.
- Contributing ideas to support continuous improvement across Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous administrative or business support experience.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage changing priorities in a busy environment.
- A proactive, positive approach with a willingness to learn.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
The following would be advantageous, but are not essential:
- Previous experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental support role.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of audits, risk assessments or compliance activities.
