Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Semi Skilled Labourer to join our construction team at Hunt Carpentry & Construction Ltd. This role involves assisting with various building and maintenance projects in Somerset, Bath and Bristol areas, providing essential support to skilled tradespeople. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of construction-related tasks and be eager to develop their skills further within a dynamic environment. Responsibilities
- Assist with carpentry, roofing, masonry, and general construction tasks under supervision
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Support plumbing and electrical work by preparing materials and assisting tradespeople
- Contribute to fabrication activities on-site, including cutting, shaping, and assembling materials
- Prepare work areas by cleaning and organising tools and materials
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to ensure a secure working environment
- Assist with the installation of construction painting finishes where required
- Support team members in moving materials and equipment around the site
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace throughout each project phase
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of construction trades such as carpentry, roofing or masonry, willingness to learn is crucial
- Experience with hand tools and power tools is advantageous
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour including lifting up to 20kg and standing for extended periods
- Strong commitment to health and safety standards on-site
- Relevant experience in fabrication or electrical work is a plus but not mandatory
- Valid UK driving licence is essential; willingness to travel between sites required
