Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Temporary Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for young children in a nursery setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and cooking, ensuring meals meet safety standards and dietary requirements. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks for nursery children in accordance with dietary guidelines and nutritional standards
- Ensure all food is prepared safely, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene at all times
- Organise meal portions and serve food in a timely manner, creating a pleasant dining experience for children
- Assist with the cleaning and sanitising of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces after each shift
- Follow menu plans provided by the nursery management, making adjustments as necessary based on children's preferences or dietary needs
- Maintain accurate records of food supplies and report any shortages or issues to management promptly
- Support the overall cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is desirable but not essential
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Friendly, reliable, and committed to providing nutritious meals that support children's health and development
As this role is within a childcare setting, any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced criminal records check.

Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
