Job description
Qualified English Teacher sought to join an inspiring and vibrant English department in September 2026. We are seeking someone who can ensure that excellent standards of teaching are maintained and who is confident in their ability to engage with pupils and promote a love of the English language and literature.
This is a full-time English teaching position based within a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in the Waterlooville area. The school has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is committed to providing a supportive learning environment where both students and staff can thrive.
The school places a strong focus on helping students develop important skills for their future, alongside achieving their academic potential. ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply, and the school would also welcome applications from suitably qualified Instructor Teachers.
Main Areas of Responsibilities
- To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area.
- To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
- To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
- To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
- To share and support the academy's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Must have experience of Teaching KS3/4 English.
- Strong subject knowledge with the ability to teach engaging, informative, and challenging lessons.
- Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- A passion for education and for steering young people to become the best possible versions of themselves.
- Be able to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff.
- Be able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
- Be able to lead and manage their own work effectively.
