Gillson’s is a family-owned British-style brasserie located in the heart of Ecclesall Road. Following the success of our sister wine bar, Gills & Co (est. 2022), Gillson’s is our next step in elevating Sheffield’s dining scene. We are dedicated to refined, classical brasserie cooking, an exceptional, curated wine program, and a culture of precise but genuinely warm hospitality.
Reporting to and working alongside our Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will support the day-to-day running of the kitchen at Gillsons. This role is ideal for someone passionate about good food, hospitality, and working within a collaborative, quality-driven environment.
We’re looking for someone reliable, organised, and enthusiastic who enjoys working as part of a supportive team and takes pride in delivering consistently high standards during service.

What you’ll be doing
Kitchen Support & Service
- Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of kitchen operations
- Assist in preparing and delivering dishes consistently and to spec
- Help maintain smooth kitchen service during busy periods
- Support prep for seasonal menus, events, and Sunday service
- Ensure high standards of presentation, cleanliness, and organisation are maintained throughout service
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house to deliver excellent guest experiences
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, including washing pots, pans, utensils, and keeping on top of cleaning duties throughout service
Food Preparation & Standards
- Prepare ingredients and dishes in line with kitchen specifications
- Support with cheese, charcuterie, and seasonal sharing plate preparation
- Assist with dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options
- Maintain consistency and quality across all food offerings
- Follow all allergen procedures and kitchen compliance standards
Stock & Kitchen Organisation
- Assist with stock rotation and organisation
- Support with deliveries and supplier orders where required
- Help minimise waste and maintain efficient kitchen practices
- Ensure all cleaning and daily compliance tasks are completed correctly
Hygiene & Food Safety
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and food safety
- Follow all health & safety and Environmental Health procedures
- Complete daily cleaning and temperature checks as required
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining a safe, clean, and organised working environment
