The Duke is a thriving independent neighbourhood pub and dining room with a village feel in the heart of East London. Renowned for exceptional hospitality, seasonal food, and memorable events, we're looking for a talented and ambitious Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef, Senior Sous Chef, or a strong Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step in their career.
We're passionate about provenance, sustainability, and cooking with outstanding ingredients. As proud members of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, we work with some of the UK's best suppliers, including Swaledale Butchers and The Ethical Butcher, championing regenerative agriculture and farm-to-table dining.

What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Leading and motivating the kitchen team during service
- Maintaining exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Assisting with menu development and seasonal dish creation
- Managing stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
- Upholding the highest standards of food hygiene and safety
- Training and mentoring junior chefs to help develop their skills
- Working closely with the front-of-house team to deliver outstanding guest experiences
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Sous Chef, or strong Junior Sous Chef
- Experience in a quality-led pub, restaurant, or dining environment
- Passion for seasonal produce and modern British cooking
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail
- A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality
- Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen management
- Food Hygiene Certification
