About the Role
As a meat / fish counter / freezer assistant, you will be responsible for preparing fresh products for retail sale by cutting, trimming and packaging meat and fish. You will also work in the freezer department including heavy lifting.
Duties include but not limited to:
· Preparing and cutting meat and fish from wholesale portions into steaks, chops, fillets, and other cuts
· Cleaning and preparing the work area in line with food hygiene requirements
· Stock replenishment and best before date checks
· Stock ordering
· Heavy lifting to move stock and replenish
· Adhering to food safety and hygiene policies and procedures
· When the meat and fish counter is not busy, you will be required to also work in the freezer dept, organising and packing frozen products.
Requirements:
- Must be comfortable with working with fresh meat (including pork) and fish
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Heavy Lifting
- Previous experience in a retail environment will be an advantage
- Able to read and speak Chinese - Mandarin or Cantonese is desirable
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK (without sponsorship)
