Location: Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9SD (2 days remote, 3 days office)
Start Date: 17 August 2026
Rate: PAYE £190.94 per day
We're recruiting an ICT Infrastructure Support Officer to join Elmbridge Borough Council's ICT & Digital Services team. This is a key technical role, ideal for someone experienced in complex ICT environments and confident supporting over 400 users across a wide range of systems and applications.
About the Role:
As an ICT Infrastructure Support Officer, you'll provide third-line operational and technical support across Council sites. You'll have particular responsibility for Microsoft Entra ID, Intune-managed endpoints, cloud infrastructure, and desktop hardware/software configuration. You'll play a vital role in ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable ICT services.
What you'll be doing:
- Installing and supporting desktop hardware, operating systems, and networking
- Providing technical support for Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Teams telephony
- Supporting server platforms, storage, VMware, and network monitoring
- Managing cyber security controls including firewalls, VPN, and identity protection
- Designing, testing, and configuring upgrades to systems and applications
- Delivering advice, guidance, and training to end users
- Supporting ICT Service Desk activity, including incident resolution and supplier liaison
- Maintaining operational documentation and ensuring compliance with ITIL standards
- Contributing to ICT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone proactive, technically skilled, and customer-focused.
You'll ideally have:
- Significant experience supporting complex ICT environments (400+ users)
- Strong knowledge of Windows servers, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience with Intune (application packaging, Autopilot, compliance policies)
- Familiarity with VMware, firewalls, VPNs, and networking
- Cyber security awareness (malware, ransomware, standards)
- Experience with backup solutions (Veeam, Arcserve)
- Hardware support (thin clients, laptops, printers, storage)
- Effective communication skills and a logical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work shifts, occasional unsocial hours, and hold a valid driving licence
- Basic DBS clearance (required)
