Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Solicitor or Lawyer specializing in Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) licensing to join our legal team. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice and support on all matters related to taxi and private hire licensing regulations, ensuring compliance with local laws and policies. You will play a vital role in managing licensing applications, representing the organization in legal proceedings, and negotiating with regulatory bodies. Your proactive approach will help streamline licensing processes, resolve disputes efficiently, and uphold the highest standards of legal integrity within the transportation sector.
Responsibilities
- Advise on all legal aspects of taxi and private hire licensing, including application procedures, compliance requirements, and regulatory updates.
- Manage and process licensing applications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to statutory guidelines.
- Represent the organization in negotiations with licensing authorities, regulators, and other stakeholders to secure favorable outcomes.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to licensing agreements, permits, and enforcement actions.
- Provide expert guidance during investigations or disputes involving licensing violations or complaints.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop policies that align with current legislation and best practices in the transportation industry.
- Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting taxi and PHV services to ensure ongoing compliance.
Experience
- Qualified solicitor or lawyer with a valid practicing certificate in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience handling licensing law, regulatory compliance, or transportation law is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiation within a legal context to achieve mutually beneficial resolutions.
- Strong understanding of local transportation regulations governing taxi and private hire vehicle services.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
