An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised, compassionate and proactive Band 4 Maternity Support Worker to join the Diabetes in Pregnancy service at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a varied role supporting women, birthing people and families who access specialist care for pre-existing or gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Working as part of the wider maternity and diabetes multidisciplinary team, you will help support safe, timely and coordinated care across the maternity pathway. Previous experience in healthcare, maternity, outpatient services, administration, audit, governance or service coordination would be beneficial.
This is a cross-site role and will require work between York and Scarborough in line with service needs.

The role combines clinical support, patient-facing contact, administration, pathway coordination and audit responsibilities. You will support clinics, assist with delegated care activities, maintain accurate records, coordinate appointments and follow-up actions, update trackers and databases, and contribute to audit, data quality, governance and service improvement activity.
You will play an important part in helping the team monitor referrals, appointments, investigations, outcomes and follow-up requirements, ensuring information is accurate , up to date and escalated appropriately where delays, gaps or concerns are identified . You will also support communication between maternity, diabetes, obstetric, administrative and governance colleagues to promote joined-up care and reliable service delivery.
We are looking for someone who is well organised, detail- focused and confident using digital systems, spreadsheets and patient records. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to engage professionally and sensitively with women, birthing people, families and colleagues. You will understand the importance of confidentiality, accurate documentation, inclusive language and timely escalation.
Most importantly, you will be motivated to support safe, compassionate and person-centred maternity care, while contributing to effective administration, audit and continuous improvement within the Diabetes in Pregnancy service.
