Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled part-time MHE (Material Handling Equipment) Operative to join our team on both day and night shifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing warehouse operations, operating and maintaining equipment, and ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience and mechanical aptitude to contribute to a dynamic logistics environment. The position is fully paid and requires a proactive approach to safety and operational excellence.
This role is suited for people looking to make extra money, or students looking for part-time work. Shifts are 4 on 4 off, with work across the month but mainly towards the end of the month, with a rotating schedule, roles are usually 8-12 hours a shift. End of month: Day shifts are from 10am-6pm, night shifts are from 6pm-2am.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
- Load and unload goods, ensuring accurate inventory management
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and verification
- Maintain warehouse organisation, cleanliness, and safety standards
- Conduct basic repairs or troubleshooting on equipment as needed
- Utilise warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and stock levels
- Assist with materials handling tasks, including moving goods within the warehouse
- Perform routine inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs or faults
- Support team members in achieving operational targets during shift hours
Qualifications
- Proven MHE experience in warehouse operations, including shipping & receiving and materials handling
- Valid forklift licence or certification
- Forklift/MHE experience is essential
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with equipment repair is advantageous
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Basic maths skills for inventory counts and documentation purposes
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Prior experience working with warehouse equipment or in logistics environments is beneficial
