SENIOR RESTORATION TECHNICIAN
BELFOR provides a comprehensive service for a variety of insurance companies by restoring and reinstating their customers’ homes after flood or fire damage. This role is part of a team looking after a dedicated geographical area and reporting to a Project Manager. The Senior Technician is an experienced restoration professional who combines hands-on technical expertise with on-site leadership responsibilities.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Senior Technician plays a key role as a technical expert onsite in delivering high-quality restoration and reinstatement works whilst providing day-to-day support, guidance, and leadership to Restoration Technicians. The role is responsible for undertaking complex restoration activities, supporting project delivery, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. They are also expected to support hands on activities such as inspections, especially during surge events.
KEY OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Deliver Exceptional Restoration and Reinstatement Outcomes
Undertake and oversee water, fire, and environmental restoration activities, ensuring works are completed to the highest standard and in accordance with company procedures, insurer requirements, and industry best practice.
· Support Effective Site Delivery Through Operational Leadership
Assist in coordinating daily site activities, ensuring resources, equipment, materials, and technicians are organised effectively to maintain project progress and achieve agreed timelines.
· Develop Team Capability Through Coaching and Mentoring
Provide guidance, training, and support to Restoration Technicians, sharing technical knowledge and promoting best practice to improve team capability, confidence, and performance.
· Enable Accurate Assessment and Scope Development
Support site surveys, damage assessments, moisture mapping, and scope development activities, providing accurate technical information to assist project planning, estimating, and decision-making.
· Maintain High Standards of Quality and Compliance
Monitor completed works to ensure quality standards are achieved, documentation is accurate, and work complies with company, insurer, and regulatory requirements.
· Deliver an Outstanding Customer Experience
Build positive relationships with customers by providing clear communication, professional advice, regular progress updates, and reassurance throughout the restoration journey.
· Promote a Safe and Productive Working Environment
Lead by example in the application of health and safety standards, ensuring safe working practices, correct use of PPE, and prompt identification and escalation of potential risks.
· Support Project Success Through Effective Communication
Liaise effectively with Lead Technicians, Project Managers, subcontractors, loss adjusters, and customers to ensure issues are resolved quickly and projects remain on track.
· Maintain Accurate Project Documentation
Record moisture readings, restoration activities, site findings, floorplans, photographs, and other project information accurately to support operational reporting, compliance, and claims processes.
· Demonstrate Readiness for Future Leadership Responsibility
Take ownership of delegated project responsibilities, support team performance, and demonstrate the leadership behaviours expected of a future Lead Technician.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proven experience in fire and water restoration, mitigation, and reinstatement activities.
- Strong technical knowledge of restoration techniques, drying principles, cleaning methods, building materials, and restoration equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence colleagues positively without direct line management responsibility.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess site challenges and identify practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Ability to plan and organise work effectively to meet project deadlines and customer expectations.
- High attention to detail in assessments, restoration activities, reporting, and documentation.
- Experience supporting or mentoring less experienced team members.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.
- Confidence using restoration technology, moisture monitoring systems, and insurance claim platforms to record information and updates.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Physical ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, to lift heavy objects and to work long hours standing.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BDMA and/or IICRC certifications (WRT, FSRT, AMRT, etc.) – Desirable
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in restoration, construction, or related disciplines – Desirable
- Health and Safety certifications (e.g. First Aid, Asbestos Awareness) – Desirable
- Valid manual driver's license.
