We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Health & Safety Officer to support our site operations.
This role is focused on maintaining a strong visible presence across the site, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, promoting a positive safety culture, and providing practical day-to-day health and safety support.
You will work closely with managers and employees to help create and sustain a safe working environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Safety Inspections & Housekeeping
- Conduct regular safety inspections across manufacturing, warehouse, and yard areas
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Monitor and improve housekeeping standards across the site
- Track outstanding safety actions and follow up on overdue items
- Support managers during internal and external audits
Near Miss & Hazard Reporting
- Promote and encourage reporting of hazards and near misses
- Assist employees in completing reports and documentation
- Carry out basic incident and near miss investigations
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and completed
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, hazards, and actions
Safety Administration
- Maintain health & safety documentation and records
- Update training records and safety files
- Support the preparation for audits (customer, regulatory, internal)
- Maintain accident, incident, and near miss databases
- Produce simple weekly and monthly safety reports
Training & Communication
- Deliver health & safety inductions for new employees
- Support managers with toolbox talks
- Prepare safety noticeboards and communications
- Promote safety initiatives and awareness campaigns
Waste & Environmental Compliance
- Conduct routine checks of waste storage areas
- Ensure waste segregation requirements are followed
- Monitor waste documentation and collection records
- Report any environmental risks or concerns
General Support
- Act as a visible and approachable safety presence on site
- Escalate significant risks to the Management Team
- Support accident investigations when required
- Assist with contractor sign-in procedures and permit systems
About You
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment
- Strong communication skills with confidence engaging people at all levels
- Well organised with good administrative skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Able to challenge unsafe behaviours constructively
- Practical, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
