We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible medical receptionist/ administrator/clinical coder/summariser to join our friendly team for 34-36 hours per week and can be discussed at interview. The hours for this post will alternate weekly, Monday to Friday between 8.30 -6pm. In addition to these hours you should be flexible to be able to cover staff absence within practice opening hours 8am-6pm when required. We currently use EMIS and Docman, and will be migrating to Vision later this year.

The aim of this role is to assist with the smooth running of the Reception / Admin team. As well as the usual daily roles associated with this, we require secretarial assistance with minimal GP dictation/correspondence and Medical Reports. We would estimate this role would take up approx. 30 hours of the week.
· Accurately code diagnoses, procedures, and investigations.
· Undertake detailed summarising of patient medical records, extracting and recording clinically significant information in line with practice protocols.
· Review records to ensure completeness and accuracy, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or risks and escalating where appropriate.
· Maintain high standards of data quality aligned with NHS requirements.
We would estimate this role would take up approx. 4/6 hours of the week.
Accountable to the Partners and Practice Manager and reports to the Assistant Practice Manager for any day to day issues that may arise.
Works independently when coding/summarising within agreed protocols and ensures safe processes.
Maintain confidentiality, comply with data protection, safeguarding, and health & safety requirements, and ensure secure handling of patient records.
Essential
. Minimum Secondary education (Nat 5's or GSCE equivalent)
· Experience in NHS or GP administration.
· Understanding of medical terminology and record-keeping practices.
· Knowledge of clinical systems (EMIS, Docman, Vision).
· Strong IT skills.
· Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
· Good communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Previous experience in a summarising or clinical coding role.

Hourly rate will be £13.70 - £15.90 depending on experience.
